Blurbs

If you wrote a book, why would you have someone else write the blurb? It seems to me that you would wish it to be strictly done by yourself. What if someone likes the style of the blurb, which is so very far from your style that the reader doesn't enjoy it? (This has happened to me of course.) Wouldn't you wish the blurb to be in the style of the book, and wouldn't you wish to talk about the main points of your book yourself?
Oh well, I suppose they rarely have a choice these days with the publishing industry.
