Walking Away

Always something I have found hard to do, except when it was too easy.

It takes me a really long time to decide something, but then (with a few notable exceptions), I stick with it, get it done, and generally get it done with efficiency.

Ta-da!

I recently walked away from my latest job – teaching 2 to 4 yr old Taiwanese children English… or rather, trying to do so. I had only the slightest amount of time before my 60 day trial period came to an end when I popped into the Head Foreign Teacher’s Office, plopped down on his couch, and announced that this wasn’t something I could do for a year.

I take it as a failure, even with several pump-up speeches stored in my head that will tell me the exact opposite. It’s clearly something I can’t do, am not willing to do as I value my sanity; something I failed at. Logically I know it is just something I can eliminate from the list of things I don’t like (for those of you who don’t know me, well, we’ll just say it isn’t something new or a short list by any stretch of the imagination). It seems I will be learning the hard way what exactly makes me happy and what jobs I am willing to do.

On the bright side, vacation time again! :D

The name of this blog may be changed, as I can’t really say I’ll be a teacher per se, nor can I say I will be in Taiwan

So I ‘walked away’ from this blog in a way, very easy, and now I’m back. I walked away from both my jobs in Taiwan - very difficult, and I won’t be going back. Apologies for the lack of posts - as per usual, sorting out my personal crises comes first on my list of things to do. In short order, this will be again a virtual fiesta of pictures and travel and cutesy comments on my life as a tourist.

A non sequiter:

My own personal interpreter

- He may have misinterpreted the other day when I gave him an amused odd look as he sat wholly contented with his use of a Chinese idiom and the following praise session from the locals, but indeed, he deserves every ounce of glowing pride that came off him that night.
He might be a little hard to walk away from too.
